Internet Marketing Trends for 2022

Internet Marketing Trends for 2022

We get this question all the time…What marketing tool should I invest in?

Well, it depends on your customer demographic, products, services and more. However, in this blog, I’m going to discuss what trends we see for 2022.

First, your website. Does your website need some content updated? It’s important to review your content on a regular basis. This means reviewing the words as well as images. How old is the headshot you have on your website? I like to update my website early Summer, because I usually have some color from the sun. When was the last time you added new animation to your website? Animation is a trend that we see more and more online. Maybe it’s time to update your logo. Remember, your website represents your business 24 hours a day. Some people may find your business on Facebook, but not everyone has Facebook. But, everyone has the internet. Make sure your website is eye-catching.

Second, branding. On your website as well as in graphic design make sure your using the colors in
your logo as well as the fonts in your online and printed materials. This trend is especially important for customers to catch your brand on new platforms such as Tik Tok. Pantone’s new color of the year,
Veri Peri, will be seen in lots of places including fashion this year. And, your font should be uploaded to your website and graphics packages for consistency. On trend this year is font inclusivity. You can check out some of my favorites here.

Third, technology. Technology is changing faster than you think. It’s time to invest in great marketing to ensure a happy customer experience. The internet is getting faster and so should your website. Social media is growing and your presence needs to grow as well. I love how this Forbes article describes 2022 trends but circles back to the basics, which is our focus. Make sure your website is the main focus of your business. Drive traffic to your website to capture leads that turn into customers.

How to Design a Website

It takes technical skills to create a website, and designing a website takes special skills as well. But, there are ways you can help your website designer and developer.

Logo, Pictures, Graphics. Have your logo professionally designed and provide colors as well as fonts to your designer for brand consistency. Invest in quality brand photography. Have your headshot as well as product photography done. Lastly, provide your designer with graphics designed using your brand image. With all of these design elements in place, this will make the process easier for you as well as for your designer.

Design Ideas. Which websites do you visit often? Do you like their look? Is it easy for you to navigate? Maybe you like the animation on one website, but the contact us page on another site. Take some time to review other websites, including your competitors'. If you find something you like about a website in a different industry, make note of that.

Share Your Ideas. Communication is key to getting what you want when designing your website. Let your designer know what you like and don’t like. For example, if you like the way the header looks, say that. If you don’t like the animation, say that too. Remember, your website is your website.

Investing in a website is an expense. It’s the face of your business that’s open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Some people may find your business on Facebook or a business card, but everyone has access to the internet, which gives them access to your website, business, products and services.

How to Create Organic SEO

Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of growing the online visibility of a website in organic, non-paid search engine results. Usually, the earlier or higher your website is on a search engine and the more frequent it shows up, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users.

With the right SEO strategy, your website can increase its page views, engagements, and sales. Here are three SEOtips to help boost your website.

Optimize Your Page Titles

Each page title needs to be unique that describes your page’s content.

Your goal is to help the user understand what your page is about by being brief and descriptive. Use the right keyword

in your page title so it shows up in search engines. For example, if your website is about sports, your page title should

include sports in it.

Link To Internal Pages On Your Site

Internal links are links that point to other pages on your website. Internal links are a way to promote the other pages

on your website. Make sure to include internal links in every article you post and on every page on your website.

Meta Tags for Search Engines and Social Media

To ensure the preview of your page on social media and search engine snippets look good, remember to set the following:

  • Site Title and Description

  • Social Media Image

  • Page Titles and Descriptions

  • Blog Post Descriptions

Search Engine Optimization, commonly referred to as SEO, ensures your business ranks high on search engines like

Google and Yahoo when a consumer is looking for a specific product or service.

Website Trends for 2021

Let’s not look back on 2020. Let’s look forward to how awesome our websites can look for 2021. For small businesses, there are a few, key trends you should implement on your website this year.

graphic with earth and internet symbols

Old School Fonts

Take a look at your branding. Is it time for a brand refresh? If so, old school fonts are the new rage for 2021.

I’m a huge fan and huge user of Canva. Here are some great retro fonts you can use with Canva to create website graphics: Notable, Lucky Bones, Gliker, Donau, Tropika, Obidee Sans, Kare, Tropika, and Genty.

If you want some great old school Google fonts, try: Old English, Acme, Bubblegum, Clicker Script, Dorsa, and Fontdiner Swanky. You can read more here.

Video, Motion, and Animation

Are you using video to attract more attention on your website? Did you know in 2021 users will watch about 100 minutes of video daily? Online video is now the fastest-growing digital channel.

If your looking to connect with a professional videographer, I highly recommend Tyler Lambert with Lambert Cameraworks.

Think you can’t afford video, think again. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, try using your iPhone and iMovie to create a video. I also love the FREE app called Perfect Video.

Google-Friendly Content

Google regularly updates its algorithm for search. One thing it continually looks for is organic website content. This means the words you include on your website need to include the words your users would search for. This is also known as “sticky content”.

For example, if you are a local plumber, you want words on your website like Annapolis plumber providing service to Anne Arundel County Maryland.

E-Commerce

eCommerce sales grew by over 30 percent in 2020. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, was your website ready? Many businesses did not take advantage of eCommerce technology and had to close their doors. If you can’t sell your products or services online, you may not be able to succeed in 2021. The ability to buy online with the click of a mouse or the tap of a button on mobile devices is a must for future success.
