5 Steps to Get Your Valuable Content in Front of Your Audience

How to get your business content in front of your audience without breaking your small business budget

March is the time for projects. In January, you created business goals for 2016. February, you created your strategy and, now, it's time to tackle that Lion of a project. Your digital marketing should be easy as a Lamb to implement. Here are 5 steps you can take to help you take action.

Step 1. Write Some Content. Develop some industry-specific content for your target audience. Write a 3 to 5 paragraph summary of how your business can solve a problem your customers have. For example, if you’re a pet store, write an article about the upcoming tick season.
TIP: Your article/content needs to be for informational purposes (not about sales).

Step 2. Host a Special Event. Contact your chamber of commerce and host an event on your industry-specific content. Invite your customers and a special guest. Be sure to plan ahead and include this special event in your article.

Step 3.  Include Article Graphics. Include infographs and pictures in your article. Statistics show that the most shareable content is content that includes visuals. So instead of telling me how a tick looks (per our example above); show me a picture of a tick.

Step 4. Post Your Content Online. Now, that your content has been developed; it’s time to get your content online. Post it on your blog and social media. Create a LinkedIn post for your article and use bits and pieces of your article on your Facebook Business Page with a link to your blog for the full article. You can post your article infographs and pictures on Instagram with a tip from your content as a caption.
TIP: Use your content to create an electronic newsletter that is mobile friendly.

Step 5. Create an Elevator Pitch. Take some time to develop a 30-second elevator pitch around your content. Print professional-looking copies of your content and have them available at networking events or in your place of business. Reference the article in your pitch and put your content in the hands of your customers.

The goal of these steps is to establish yourself as an industry-leader in your field.
