Why is Search Engine Optimization Important?

You just launched your website, now what? How will customers find you? Webgirl Technology recommends you start by performing some basic Search Engine Optimization or SEO.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) ensures that your business ranks high on search engines like Google and Yahoo when a consumer is looking for a specific product or service. SEO tasks include site keywords, page titles, headings, page descriptions, and many more ways to make you stand out from the crowd. It is a way of earning traffic through unpaid or free listings.

Before you develop your SEO contents, make sure you can answer some basic questions.
What is your ideal customer demographic?
How old are they?
What is their gender?
What is their ethnicity, race, and cultural background?
What is their education level?
What car do they drive?
What do you think is the biggest problem you solve for them?
Who are your competitors?

Answering these questions makes it easier to get the right customers to your website.

How do I get my Website to the top of a Google Search?

As a web designer, I hear this question all the time. The simple answer is that a lot of different digital marketing work goes into getting at the top of a Google Search. But, the first step in the process is to create a website that is the center of all your marketing efforts. This means updating your website on a regular basis.

Did you know that writing a blog has a huge impact on your rankings with Google and other search engines? That’s because writing a blog updates your website of a regular basis. But, the most important thing about blogging is that the blog must be integrated on your website. This means your blog should be a page on your website. Click here to see an example.

Writing a blog can be as simple as writing 3 to 5 paragraphs on a special that you’re running or a topic pertaining to your products. There is a great book I recommend for blogging called They Ask, You Answer by Marcus Sheridan.

I learned many lessons from reading this book. The most important lesson was to address those questions that your customers ask the most; even, the one’s you don’t want to answer.  Be sure to update your blog on a regular basis and include timely activity. For example, if you’re running a Spring Special, type out the details of that special in a blog post, have printable coupons and distribute flyers with blog content. The marketing options are limitless. The blog, which is integrated with your website, continues to drive traffic to your site and helps you rank higher.

So, get started! If you want to see your website move up in Google rankings, start making your website the centerpiece for all your marketing efforts both online and offline!

FAQ: How Do We Compare Against WordPress?

Webgirl Technology has been using WebSolutions by maWebCenters to develop websites since 2009. We chose to use this technology over others for several reasons. However, we often receive requests to support WordPress and have always turned down those requests for three main reasons:

First -  Security.  According to securi.net, during the first quarter of 2016, WordPress websites were the top most hacked sites in the world. You can download their full report here. Website and customer’s information should be secure and thus hosted with a secure server.

WebSolutions by maWebCenters servers have 99% uptime (better than Facebook even!) and have had zero security breaches in over 18 years.  We have an ultra-secure hosting facility with 24x7 security and incident monitoring, hosted on tiered, high performance Dell PowerEdge servers, protected from fire, floods, earthquakes, power outages, and other types of disasters.

Second – Time. The WordPress platform is comprised of individual plugins made by anyone who wants to make them. While this can be great because there is more variety, there is no way to know if it is a good plugin, if it is updated, plans to be updated, works well etc.  You could add a social media plugin to your site and then find it gone 6 months down the road because the developer of that plugin decided to take it down. More commonly than that, you use a plugin for a gallery, form or some other element on your website and then find it never gets updated which causes it to either stop working or need to be replaced. Their approach to building a site is to make you skim through hundreds of plugins to add to the platform to make your site work and then manage them all.

WebSolutions by maWebCenters has a website builder with a myriad of plugins built right in.  This
saves the customer time and frustration because there is no searching to do for which one to add.  Most importantly, it was natively built so we will maintain those plugins, update them and provide support 24/7 on them.  Finally, their platform is a website builder.  Ours is Digital Marketing Solution and comes with an incredible CMS (Content Management System), Customer Relationship Database, Domains, Emails, SEO Tools, Social Media Tools, Email Marketing System and other important Marketing Tools that help to promote the website in one easy-to-use client administration.

Third – Support. WordPress is built sort of like an “app store” which again is great for variety of plugin options, but not a very dependable route to go when building a website.  When you’ve finally chosen the plugin you want and add it to your website and it stops working, you can’t get support from WordPress because they didn’t make it.  You have to go to all the individual developers for support on all of the individual plugins you’ve used, which can vary.  Some of those developers will offer email support, some will offer forums but most completely disregard support all together.
WebSolutions by maWebCenters is built on service and support.  We truly consider ourselves in partnership with our clients and want to support them in their digital marketing goals.  We are not trying to just sell them some cheap hosting solution and then move onto the next customer.  We are here 24/7 (excluding US Major holidays) and available to help them with using all aspects of our Digital Solution to achieve their goals.

Why Does Your Business Need A Responsive Website Design?

Why Does Your Business Need A Responsive Website Design?

It’s 2015 and your website is the best and most effective way to attract new customers and engage existing customers. That’s why a responsive website is so important. A responsive website means your site loads fast and looks great on every device: desktop, laptop, tablet, and smartphone. This means you no longer need to create separate sites for these devices. A single site can be created, enhanced, and updated.  Plus, Google and other major search engines search and rank websites based on technology. If you aren’t using the recent technology, you aren’t ranking.

Here’s what you need to know:

User’s Opinions About Mobile Websites:
·         40% abandon a site if it takes too long to load
·         67% are more likely to purchase from mobile-friendly sites
·         74% are likely to revisit mobile-friendly sites
·         52% are less likely to engage with companies if they have a bad mobile site experience

Here’s a sample responsive website: www.e40demo.com
